Collective action for Basic Rights Foundation (CBRF), a disability and development organization, reaches out to the remote rural areas of India. CBRF touches the lives of 89,967 persons with disabilities in 4806 Villages, 1386 Gram Panchayats with 60 partners with 75 programmes in 20 states and 1 Union Territory. CBRF started off as a programme of Caritas India way back in 1996. It was only in 2011 that it was registered as a separate society under Societies Registration Act, 1860, New Delhi. It is registered under section 12’A’ and 80’G’ of Income Tax Act 1961. CBRF is also registered under Niti Aayog. While CBRF promotes the awareness, rehabilitation, inclusion and empowerment of all persons with disability, its primary focus is on women, children and those with severe disabilities. CBRF works with persons with disabilities, NGO Partners, local communities and the Government to bring about the desired changes in the lives of persons with disabilities. Before it ends its partnership with the persons with disabilities, it ensures that they are fully prepared to care for their own future. Today, CBRF touches not only the lives of 89,967 persons with disabilities but also their families and their communities. It brings about change by caring for 5 core areas of life – education, health, livelihood, social inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities. People like YOU can help us make this difference in the lives of many more people with disabilities in the rural areas.
